Maui Solar Power and MECO Controversy

Maui TV News, Maui’s exclusive weekly television newscast, did a story on the blessing of the large photovoltaic array at the Kihei Aquatic Center last week and the controversial tone of the day. The controversy seems to come from the Maui Electric Company not being fully onboard with the State’s push to move forward with solar energy. Although MECO has made big strides in nurturing renewable energy projects, it is when they apply the brakes that controversy erupts.

  1. MECO is a tyrant to the citizens of Maui. Maui County should buy MECO for the citizens of Maui. The PUC stands by and lets MECO bully anyone and everyone on Maui. If the PUC doesn’t step in, and soon, Maui County should sue both MECO and the PUC. Don’t forget PUC, you are suppose to stand up for the citizens of the State of Hawaii…not be in bed with the utility companies.
